Preparing for your Studio Session
What to Expect at the Studio
Whether this is your first visit or you already know where I keep the coffee, welcome! The studio is your space to get comfortable, feel confident and create some great photographs.
A little preparation makes the whole session easier, so here are the useful things to know before you arrive.
Clean Shoes Only, Please
The studio is not just a workspace. It also needs to stay clean for every client who uses it. If your shoot includes shoes, please make sure they are clean before wearing them on the studio backdrop. I recommend either:
-
Bringing a separate, clean pair of shoes to change into
-
Giving them a quick wipe-down before your session
Outfit Prep
Bring your outfits ironed, matched and ready to go. There is a private place to change and make final adjustments before I start taking photographs. If you have several looks, hang them in the order you want to use them and the changes will be much quicker.
Changing Outfits
You’ll have a private place to change, hang your clothes and make any last-minute adjustments.
The changing space is separated by a curtain and has a full-length mirror, so you can check everything before I start taking photographs!
Food & Drinks
It’s completely fine to bring food and drink with you, although I would avoid eating too much just before your session starts.
If you want to bring some refreshments with you, for obvious reasons, please make sure that they’re kept away from the studio equipment.
Up to 5 Attendees
For safety and comfort, the studio is limited to a maximum of 5 people. This includes you and any guests you bring with you.
It’s important that the space remains functional as well as safe, so please make sure you take this into consideration when planning your visit!
Good Music
You name the music and I’ll put it on! It makes a huge difference to the atmosphere, and I’m pleased to say I did not cheap out on the sound system.
Whatever the genre, I’m happy as long as the studio is not awkwardly silent. Unless awkward silence is your thing, of course!
Have Fun!
I promise you’ll have a great time! I’ve been doing this for quite a while now, and the session won’t feel like work. Expect light-hearted conversation, a few laughs and great photographs at the end of it.
It normally takes a few minutes to get into the swing of things. I’ll take some test shots, show you what is working and make small adjustments as I go. By the end, you’ll wonder where the time went and be desperate to see the photographs!
